Mystery continues to surround the disappearance of a mother and her young daughter in Lanzarote almost six months ago.

Jasmine Raeymaekers, aged 30, and Lily Sofía Fernández, who is just 3, have not been seen on the island since 23 February and a Spanish organisation that raises awareness of missing persons cases has reiterated its call for information on their current whereabouts.

Jasmine is described as being “slim with long blonde hair and blue eyes”, while Sofia also has blonde hair and blue eyes and can be identified by a dark birthmark on her neck below one ear.

Although the mayor of Arrecife has reposted the plea for information on his social media sites, the authorities in the Canaries have not issued any public statements on the matter. However, other sources describe the disappearance as a case of parental abduction and report that the girl’s father has been trying to trace her since February.

Back in May, a post on the “Anything in Sharm” Facebook site identified the mother as the person who allegedly persuaded people in the well-known Egyptian tourist resort to look after her daughter for short periods to enable her to work but never paid them.

A much more recent post on the same site includes a picture allegedly showing the 3-year-old and her father with the caption “Lily and her Dad were happy until her mother took her illegally out of the country”.
